A workshop with a long memory.
Eleven makers, one timber store and a drawing table that has not moved since 1998.

One bay, an old saw and a stubborn idea.
Tom Halden opened the workshop in a single bay of the old sawmill, with one rule: make it as if you will be the one to repair it in thirty years.
Anna Rowe joined to design, and the two of them built a team around the same rule. Today we make staircases, kitchens, panelling and furniture for homes across the region, and we still drive to every site ourselves.
Three habits, never skipped.
Timber first
Everything begins with choosing the right board, then designing around what the wood wants to do.
Drawn before cut
You see and approve every dimension on paper, so the finished piece holds no surprises.
Made to be repaired
Real joints and honest fixings mean any piece can be eased, refinished or mended for generations.
The people behind the bench.
We design and make
staircases,
kitchens and fitted rooms
by hand, from timber we choose ourselves, for homes meant to be lived in for a hundred years.
