Questions, answered plainly.
Cost, timing, timber and aftercare. If yours is not here, call or write and we will answer it properly.
Cost and timing
How much does a commission cost?
Every piece is priced individually after we have visited. As a guide, a fitted wardrobe starts around £4,500, a staircase from £9,000 and a full kitchen from £28,000. You receive a fixed written price before we begin.
How long is the wait?
We are currently booking about eight weeks ahead for design, plus six to twelve weeks to make and fit. Larger projects are scheduled together with your builder.
Do you charge for the first visit?
No. The first visit, measure and conversation are free, and so is a sketch of what we would suggest.
Timber and making
Do you only use solid timber?
Yes for everything you see. We use solid oak, walnut, ash and sapele, and stable engineered board for large panels and carcase backs where it genuinely performs better.
Can you match existing period woodwork?
Often. We copy mouldings, profiles and finishes, and can test sample sections before anything is made.
Where does your timber come from?
From certified sawmills in the UK and Europe. We buy by the tree where we can, so grain and colour match across a whole room.
Fitting and aftercare
Who fits the work?
The people who made it. We do not use sub-contractors, so the person who cut the joint is the one who fits it.
Do you work with architects and builders?
Regularly. We can work from your drawings or produce our own, and will coordinate with your builder on site dates.
What guarantee do you give?
Ten years on construction and fitting. Timber moves with the seasons, so we visit a month after handover to adjust anything that has settled.
